This custom bird trout knife is made by me, Mark Buzzell (MAB), right here in Maine. This great looking knife is 6-1/8 inches overall with a 2-8/2 inch by 1/8 inch thick and 11/16 inch wide. The knife blade is marked with my MAB logo as the maker of this fine knife. This knife was made from a 200 plus fold bar stock damascus billet. The knife billets are shaped, ground, polished, oil quenched hardened and tempered to rockwell 57 to 58, then acid etched to help bring out the damascus pattern. Then gun blued and given one final polish all done by me. The handle on this one is made from stabilized aged oxen horn with some lions blood amboyna wood, the knife will come alive outside in the sun, with a 3d depth in the oxen horn. The knife bolsters and spacers were made from solid brass bar stock and shaped to the handle. The knife is a rat tang construction with a corby nut in the pommel so it will hold up in the field. I also hand filed the top of the blade with my “thorn” pattern… All done by hand with a chain saw file and a small triangle file. I do not use a dremel tool like some knife builders, and then call it file work, I put a lot of time into every one of my knives from fitting and finish to the file work, so every knife can be a collectors piece or a working knife, this is your chance to own a real quality handmade knife.
