This is a custom miniature Mammoth ivory handle knife, The knife is only 3-1/4″ inches overall with a 1-1/2″ inch blade 1/4″ inch wide, The guard and the spacers were made from brass bar and sheet stock and shaped by hand to the knife, The handle is a solid piece of mammoth ivory that was found in the permafrost area of Siberia Russia, The Mammoth ivory will date from 15,000 to 25,000 years old. I was unable to mark the knife with my makers stamp as the knife is just to small, So the knife will come with a hand signed telling more about the knife, Time spent and so on. The blade on this little guy went through the same processes that i use for any large knife, The blade was hand ground from a old Nicholson file, it was heat treated to a Rockwell of 57 then hand sanded and polished to 1,200 grit, the entire knife was hand sanded from 220 to 1,200 grit before it hit the buffer for the final shine.
