This custom MAB dagger is a real eye cather, The dagger blade is made from a 200 plus fold swirl damascus billet,The knife blade is marked with my MAB logo as the maker of this fine knife. This knife was made from a bar stock damascus billet. The knife billets are shaped, ground, polished, oil quenched hardened and tempered to rockwell 57 to 58, then acid etched to help bring out the damascus pattern, then gun blued and given one final polish. The dagger handles are made from Texas Prickly Pear Cactus (Opuntia lindheimeri Engelm. var. lindheimeri), the state plant of Texas. Portions of the cactus are painstakingly harvested, processed, and cast in urethane resin to make the set of scales, I also used two custom pins in the handle and two more in the brass guards, I then hand filed both sides of the handle in my walking lizard pattern, all my file work is done by hand with a round file and a half moon file not with a dremil tool like most builders and than call it file work…Dagger is 8″ inches overall with a 4-1/4″ inch blade 1″ inch wide at the widest point and 3/16″ inch thick. All the brass spacers and the brass guards are made from flat brass bar and sheet stock and shaped to the handle by hand, The dagger was hand sanded from 220 grit to 2,000 grit then put on the buffer wheel for a final shine.
