This custom knife is a MAB bird trout style drop point damascus blade knife, This one has it all,. This great looking knife is 6 inches overall with a 2-7/8 inch by just over 1/8 inch thick 3/4″ inch wide and is a 200 plus fold random wave pattern damascus steel blade. Knife blade is marked with my MAB logo as the maker of this fine knife. This knife was made flat a bar stock damascus billet. The knife billets are shaped, ground, polished, oil quenched hardened and tempered to rockwell 57 to 58, then acid etched and then gun blued to help bring out the damascus pattern and given one final polish, all done by me. The handle on this custom knife is made from stabilized cholla cactus with a blue pearl resin to fill the voids and Texas prickly pear cactus, (Opuntia lindheimeri Engelm. var. lindheimeri) The state plant of Texas. Portions of the cactus are painstakingly harvested, processed and cast in urethane resin to make the custom knife scales. I also used two custom copper pins in the handle to match the cactus colors and two more in the guards. The custom brass guards and spacers are made from sheet and bar stock and shaped by hand to the knife for a perfect fit and finish. I then put some file work on the blade to make this a real custom knife, The file work is my “Sharp Thorn” pattern on the blade. All my file work is done by hand with a chainsaw file and a half round file, “Not” with a dremel tool like some knife builders call file work. The custom knife was hand sanded from 220 grit to 1,000 grit to put a mirror finish on the handle and then put on the buffing wheel for a final shine, The custom knife sheath was made by Carl Thomas of Mississippi to make for a perfect fit, So as you can see I put a lot of time into this custom knife from the fit and finish to the file work to make this a collectors investment piece or a everyday user to pass down to future generations to enjoy, This one will be the knife to enjoy the top spot in your knife collection.
