This custom knife is a MAB Straight back style knife, This one was made with the larger hand hunter in mind, There is always tons of knives for the guys with small to medium hands, If you wear an extra large glove Than this one will melt in your hand. The custom knife is made from S30V stainless steel, The knife was hand ground from bar stock, Then polished, oil quenched hardened And tempered to a Rockwell hardness of 59. The knife is 7-11/16″ inches overall with a 3-5/8″ inch blade and 7/8″ inch wide and just under 3/16″ inch thick.. The handle on this one is made from some stabilized Lace sheoak from Australia, This style of wood has a look of no other wood, The lines and grain just make your eyes lock onto the handle, Then just take it out into the sunlight to see the 3D look you get . I used two custom brass pins in the handle to show off the sheoak. The knife guard and spacers were made from solid brass bar and sheet stock and shaped to the handle by hand. I also had filed the top of the blade with my “Mini Double Wave” pattern and the top of the handle in my “Double wave” pattern All done by hand with a chain saw file and a small triangle file. I do not use a dremel tool like some custom knife builders, and then call it file work. So you can see I put a lot of time just in the file work along with the fit and finish on this one to make it a very collectable piece, or a good working custom knife.
